Welcome Uptown Animal Clinic | New Business in Uptown Saint John

Uptown Saint John is excited to welcome Uptown Animal Clinic, a new member of the Uptown Saint John BIA and the first veterinary clinic within our Uptown BIA neighbourhood. Located at 160 Union Street, Uptown Animal Clinic opened in mid-April and is already bringing something deeply appreciated to the South Central Peninsula. For pet owners living in the South End, Waterloo Village, and Uptown area, having a clinic close by means less time in the car, fewer stressful trips for nervous pets, and easier access for residents who may not have transportation.

Owned by Dr. Alison Messina, Uptown Animal Clinic is a private, woman-owned, non-emergency clinic for cats and dogs. Dr. Messina has worked in the veterinary field for 20 years, beginning her career as a veterinary technician before becoming a veterinarian. Opening her own clinic has been a lifelong dream, and after moving to Saint John three years ago, she found the right home for that dream here in Uptown.

Inside, the clinic feels warm and welcoming, with cheerful purple walls and thoughtfully decorated exam rooms. There is a Philly-themed room, a nod to Dr. Messina’s hometown of Philadelphia, along with a Tiki Room and a Rainbow Room, a peaceful grief room for end-of-life care, created to make those difficult moments as calm and compassionate as possible.

Uptown Animal Clinic offers wellness exams, vaccinations, medications, deworming, screening bloodwork, flea and tick prevention, pet care, and end-of-life care. They also carry a selection of products, including Purina Pro Plan Veterinary Diets (dry and wet food for cats and dogs), Feliway Friends calming diffusers, and other pet care essentials, with plans to expand their inventory over time.
