UPTOWN BOX ART – Past Projects

2022 saw the first installation of our Uptown Box Art project. The Traffic Box on Charlotte Street, in front of the City Market, was transformed into a vibrant visual art installation by local artist, Fabiola Martinez.

In spring 2023, the Business Improvement Association, Uptown Saint John Inc., transformed FOUR more traffic boxes in the Uptown BIA. Local artists painted a custom design, adding much valued and appreciated vibrancy to our community.

‘Art Banners on Prince William Street’ is another element of this project. In efforts to include our talented and valuable youth, Students from De las Artes Art School, Rothesay High School, and St. Malachy’s Memorial High School each painted a canvas with special meaning to them. These canvases will be transposed onto banners and will be installed on the historic Prince William Street Lamp Standards this summer.
