For 100 years, Keirstead’s Flower Shop has been part of the fabric of Saint John’s uptown community. From its early days in 1925 as a humble City Market stall founded by Guy G. Keirstead, to the charming heritage shop on Charlotte Street you know today, Keirstead’s has been spreading joy with flowers for a century. In 1946 the shop moved to its current location. Through four generations, this family business blossomed into a local institution. Now under new ownership (since 2021) and proud to carry on the legacy, we’re marking this incredible milestone the best way we know how – with a week-long celebration full of nostalgia, elegance, and fun!

Join us for an enchanting week-long celebration of Keirstead’s 100th Anniversary! We’re throwing open our doors and inviting the community that has supported us for a century. Here’s what we have in store for our friends and fans, new and old:

 Centennial Cake & Treats: Enjoy complimentary anniversary cake in-store! We’ll be cutting a celebratory cake on Tuesday and Wednesday, and then a second cake for Thursday through Saturday – drop in for a slice of sweetness to share in our joy. (Yes, cake for everyone all week!)

 Nostalgic Music, Step back in time as our shop fills with the tunes of the 1920s, ‘30s and ’40s, paying homage to the era when it all began. Enjoy classic jazz and swing melodies playing daily to set a festive, vintage mood. Psst… we’re planning live music on Saturday to get your toes tapping and close out the week in style!

 Blooming Deals: As a thank-you to our wonderful customers, we’re offering special anniversary discounts all week long. Get 20% off any purchase over $50, or 25% off purchases over $100. It’s the perfect time to treat yourself (or someone you love) to that beautiful bouquet you’ve been eyeing from our collections, at a great price. 

 Daily Prizes & Giveaways: Every day from Tuesday to Saturday, we’ll have prize draws and giveaways! Enter for a chance to win floral arrangements, gift certificates, and other surprises. Plus, we’re feeling nostalgic – come dressed in your snazziest Roaring 1920s, 30’s attire (think flapper dresses, feathered hats, pinstripes and suspenders) and you could win our “Best Costume” prize. Embrace the glamour of the past and have fun with it! 

 Exclusive Fall Mingle Draw: To cap off our celebrations, every in-store purchase over $50 during anniversary month gets you an entry into a draw for our Annual Fall Mingle in October– an elegant after-hours party at the shop kick off change of season. This invite-only event will feature live music, delicious food, and of course gorgeous flowers (a drink or two) in a cozy setting. How to enter? Simply write your name and contact info on the back of your receipt and hand it to our staff (proof of age 19+ required for the Fall Mingle). Winners must have spent at least $75 in in-store purchases during August/September. We’ll draw 50 lucky winners who will receive invitations to this intimate evening of friends, food, drinks live music, flowers, and fun! 

 A Century of Flowers and Memories

Keirstead’s Flower Shop has been blooming in Saint John since 1925, making us one of the city’s oldest and most beloved businesses. We started out with one man’s passion for flowers in a little market stall, and grew into a flourishing shop that still stands at the corner of Charlotte and Princess – the same spot we’ve called home since the 1940s. Our historic building has seen it all, from wartime weddings to modern-day graduations. Over the decades, four generations of the Keirstead family tended to this shop and to the community’s floral needs, creating bouquets for countless birthdays, weddings, anniversaries, and all heartfelt moments in between.

Fast-forward to today, and the legacy lives on stronger than ever. In 2021, a local entrepreneur stepped in to preserve this piece of Saint John history, ensuring that the lights stayed on windows stayed decorated and the blooms kept coming for our 100th year – and beyond. We carry forward the same commitment to quality and personal service that Keirstead’s has been known for since day one but now with an online presence as well. The original vintage coolers from the ’40s still store our fresh flowers, and the spirit of old Saint John mingles with new ideas in our shop every day. This centennial is not just about celebrating a number – it’s about celebrating you, our community, and all the memories we’ve made together over a century.
