Uptown Saint John is delighted to welcome a new business member to the BIA, Sumac & Thyme, a new restaurant located on King Street. Specializing in authentic Turkish cuisine, they bring the warmth of family traditions and rich flavours to the heart of our city.
Business partners Saygun and Ugur are behind the vision, with Ugur leading in the kitchen. Ugur Postalli, chef and manager, comes from a family of restaurateurs and ran a popular spot back home in Turkey. Here in Saint John, he is joined by his wife, Kateryna (front-of-house manager), and his sister, Begum, making Sumac & Thyme truly a family affair.
On the menu, you’ll find comforting Turkish classics, including pistachio baklava, delicate dumplings served with creamy yogurt sauce, fresh lemonade, and rich Turkish coffee. They offer dishes prepared with halal ingredients and vegetarian options.
Sumac & Thyme soft opened in late August, and their grand opening is set for October 5th (mark your calendars and get ready to taste some delicious baklava). They invite you to stop by, discover new flavours, and enjoy a warm welcome right here Uptown.
