Saint John Pride Parade
August 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The 21st annual Pride Parade will take place on August 17th, 2024. We invite our community and allies to either Join us in our march through the streets of Saint John OR crowd the sidewalks and cheer us on as we commemorate the historic struggles of the past and remember that there is much work to do in the struggle for equality.
Our parade Marshall is former teacher and strong advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights in our school system Gail Costello. Who is an 2SLGBTQIA+ advisor at STU and worked as co-chair for Pride in Education for 12 years. In the broader community, she has worked with nursing homes, churches, businesses, and the police to help create safer spaces and best practices for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Most recently, on behalf of Pride in Education, she accepted the 2023 New Brunswick Human Rights Award.
We commend Gail and Pride in Education for her work in our schools and for helping to raising the call to action in 2023 against our Premier’s attack on policy 713.
We encourage you to join in our parade, wear your pride on your sleeve and bring signs for the causes that you care about the most!
Our registration form is live and we aren’t turning away anyone who would like to walk in solidarity with Saint John Pride. We hope to give a voice to any marginalized group that also supports the rights and freedoms of the 2SLGBTIQA+ community within our parade.
This year we encourage businesses and organizations to go as big as possible! Decorate & Bring a car! Play music while walking down the street! We love bubbles! Let’s really make this the biggest and LOUDEST pride parade.
We welcome those whose values align with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to participate in the parade. We reserve the right to deny your application, should your values go against that of our organizations values and those of the community we serve.
