Documentary Double Feature

August 14 @ 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Are you a documentary lover? Maybe you just want to learn some history about something you have never learned about before. Whatever your reason for joining us, head to Haven Music Hall for a double dose of documentary deliciousness with
Disclosure
According to a study from GLAAD, over 80% of Americans don’t personally know someone who’s transgender. That means most people learn about trans people from the ways they’re depicted in movies and TV.
From executive producer Laverne Cox and director Sam Feder comes Disclosure, a documentary that chronicles over 100 years of trans representation on screen, from silent film to Dog Day Afternoon, The 40-Year-Old Virgin to Pose.
AND
Circus of Books
For over 35 years, the gay porn shop Circus of Books gave Los Angeles’ LGBT+ community a space to socialize and celebrate themselves without judgment. Executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Circus of Books is the debut documentary from Jewish artist Rachel Mason, who finally asks the least radical people she knows- her parents- how they became American’s biggest distributors of gay porn.
This event is Free to all attendees. We will have a donation bucket at the door if you wish. But it is not required to attend.
