DESCRIPTION:Third Space Gallery is excited to present our 10-year-anniversary of THIRD SHIFT! Our theme for this year will be: PSYCHE. THIRD SHIFT aims to showcase works that plumb the depths of the human psyche. Psyche encompasses the entirety of our inner world. It is an invitation for artists to navigate the profound complexities of consciousness and the human condition\, transcending boundaries and creating new intersections of thought and expression. The event will be FREE\, all-ages\, and we encourage everyone to come on down and join us for a fun weekend filled with art installments from various amazing artists around the country! \nTHIRD SHIFT is a contemporary art festival presented by Third Space\, a not-for-profit artist-run centre in Saint John\, New Brunswick\, that includes temporary installations\, interventions\, performances\, projections\, and events. Created as a platform for new experiences and communal exchange\, THIRD SHIFT aims to offer Saint John citizens and visitors to the city a unique opportunity to engage with contemporary art and re-imagine urban space.

DESCRIPTION:Big Brothers Big Sisters’ 19th Annual BIG BOOK SALE is happening on Level 1 of Brunswick Square again this summer. The sale will take place from 10am to 5pm on Saturday\, August 17th; and 10am to 6pm Monday\, August 19th to Friday\, August 23rd. Books range in price from $1 to $2\, so come out to get all of your winter reading materials! \nIf you can’t make it to the sale\, you can order a mystery bag of books online and stop by to pick them up with curbside assistance. \nDonations of gently used books are being accepted up until the sale. \nFor more information\, contact 506-635-1145.

SUMMARY:Saint John Pride Parade
DESCRIPTION:The 21st annual Pride Parade will take place on August 17th\, 2024. We invite our community and allies to either Join us in our march through the streets of Saint John OR crowd the sidewalks and cheer us on as we commemorate the historic struggles of the past and remember that there is much work to do in the struggle for equality.\nOur parade Marshall is former teacher and strong advocate for 2SLGBTQIA+ rights in our school system Gail Costello. Who is an 2SLGBTQIA+ advisor at STU and worked as co-chair for Pride in Education for 12 years. In the broader community\, she has worked with nursing homes\, churches\, businesses\, and the police to help create safer spaces and best practices for the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. Most recently\, on behalf of Pride in Education\, she accepted the 2023 New Brunswick Human Rights Award.\nWe commend Gail and Pride in Education for her work in our schools and for helping to raising the call to action in 2023 against our Premier’s attack on policy 713.\nWe encourage you to join in our parade\, wear your pride on your sleeve and bring signs for the causes that you care about the most!\nOur registration form is live and we aren’t turning away anyone who would like to walk in solidarity with Saint John Pride. We hope to give a voice to any marginalized group that also supports the rights and freedoms of the 2SLGBTIQA+ community within our parade.\nThis year we encourage businesses and organizations to go as big as possible! Decorate & Bring a car! Play music while walking down the street! We love bubbles! Let’s really make this the biggest and LOUDEST pride parade.\nWe welcome those whose values align with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community to participate in the parade. The parade will commence at 2:00pm. The parade will conclude at the Area 506 Container Village for post pride celebrations.\nWe will have a Saint John Transit bus available to help take anyone that has mobility issues\, but would still like to participate in the parade.\n2SLGBTQIA+ Individuals are welcome to participate in the parade by joining Saint John Pride’s walking group. No signup necessary. We will have Volunteers at the tail end of the parade with music\, where you can join and follow us to the after party!\nHere at Saint John Pride we believe it’s important to treat all people with respect and dignity. We pledge to create safer\, more inclusive\, respectful space where people can thrive\, free from all forms of harassment\, including sexual harassment\, discrimination\, bullying and violence.

SUMMARY:Prismatique After Party
DESCRIPTION:The shows over\, but you’re still pumped?\nJoin us at Haven Music Hall for an after party of epic proportions!\nThis party is completely free and only accessible with a ticket to our Prismatique Pride Party. Come celebrate Pride and dance the night away for 2.5 more hours of dancing and shenanigans!\nAccessibility: Haven Music Hall is a street-level small music venue without fixed seating. This show is combination standing and seating room only. Our entrance exterior is a 34″ wide door that has a small lip/step up from the street. Once inside\, our entrance vestibule has three steps up into the space with an interior entrance opening of 70″. We have two single-use washrooms with toilets. If you’d like more information about accessing our space please email abigail@havenmusichall.com.\nSafer Spaces Policy/Code of Conduct: Haven Music Hall (HMH) is committed to ensuring a safer show experience for musicians\, audiences\, staff\, and volunteers. If you see or experience any form of harassment or abuse please inform the bar staff on site. If you experience harassment or abuse and wish to inform us after the fact please email abigail@havenmusichall.com. This email is read by the HMH owners only and any reports of safety violations will be treated as confidential. Incidents that are reported in real time are written up by the handling staff member and are confidential and kept on file. Abuse and harassment of an audience member\, musician\, HMH staff\, security\, or volunteers will result in immediate ejection from the premises\, potential probationary period\, and potential banning from the premises.
