LAST IN LEAGUE
Writer/Producer: Gretchen Kelbaugh
Duration: 56 minutes

In 2006, a Tim Horton’s in southern New Brunswick sponsored the first local hockey team of women over 40, launching a new league. The team enjoyed being on top for a brief year, before other teams joined. Ten years later, the Lucky Puckers can’t win a game. As the season nears an end, the last business in town willing to sponsor them, Andy’s Meat Packers, pulls sponsorship. Playing their last season, three desperate members plot a way out of the mire, inspired by teammate Karen. Dr Karen Rx volunteers as Team Trainer. She is known for her 3-minute patient-visits and her enthusiasm for prescriptions. Soon Jen overcomes her anxiety, Gretchen leaps the boards like a pro and Cindy’s slap shot exceeds the coach’s. But when teammate Tracey gets suspicious of these unbelievable abilities, she goes undercover, setting off a chain of events that sinks the team so low there is no possible way out. Or is there?
