Welcome to Bubbles & Balms!

The Saint John City Market is now home to Bubbles & Balms – specializing in essential oils and organic self-care items.  Husband and wife team, Justin and Judith, have moved back home after establishing this business out west and are being very well received in Saint John.  Judith and Justin make all of the naturally scented products by hand and a chat with either of them at their shop will point you in the right direction.  That’s if you happen to get past where your nose points you – there are some wonderfully aromatic items at Bubbles & Balms in the form of bath fizzes, body butters, bubble truffles, natural deodorants and much more.

Stop by for some Christmas gifts or stocking stuffers and welcome Bubbles & Balms to the neighbourhood!

Welcome Uptown to TELUS!

Pictured above; Emily Weaver – Store Manager, Chuck Healy – TELUS Account Executive, Paul MacLennan – GM Highland Cellular.  Missing from the photo, Roberto Mosca – Business Solutions Executive

TELUS has been working on finding the right location in Uptown Saint John for the past two and a half years.  It opened on Sept 6th in Market Square and we are very happy to welcome them!

Chuck Healy, TELUS Account Executive who lives uptown, has been a driving force in making sure a store would be located in the Uptown area. “There are a number of factors the drove our decision to have a location Uptown” says Healy. “First and foremost, we needed a location to support our business customers. Secondly, we wanted to have a meeting place for our community investment work where charities and non-profits can have use of the boardroom. We do a lot of grass roots type community work, and with a store uptown it can play a huge role in expanding our reach with our volunteer work and grants we give out.” “TELUS’s philosophy is Give Where We Live;  we work to make a positive and lasting difference in our communities.”

And finally says Healy, “We are thrilled to play a role in the resurgence that has been happening Uptown  for the past few years. It’s an exciting time in Uptown Saint John  and we’re happy that our TELUS Authorized Dealer Partner, Highland Cellular saw this as a great opportunity to fill a gap in the market since there is no other Telecom store front Uptown,” says Healy.

Highland owners, Mark Worth and Tim Mahoney are excited to open their 8th TELUS location, and their first in New Brunswick. They have locations in Nova Scotia and Newfoundland. The store will employ up to 6 people including  store Manager Emily Weaver along with Business Solutions Executive Roberto Mosca.

Find out more about TELUS Community Grants here.

Feel free to stop by the new TELUS location on the second level of Market Square and welcome them to uptown.  Also, The TELUS team will be hosting a Chamber of Commerce Mixer on Thursday Oct 4, 4pm – 7pm as part of their grand opening.

Uptown Saint John, Business Improvement Association (BIA) Welcomes A New Tool To Help Beautify Our City Streets

Actualizing one of the priorities of the Neighborhood Plan, Uptown Saint John Board of Directors approves the purchase of the first Sidewalk Sweeper to clean our 26 blocks of the Business Improvement Area. The machine will be on the sidewalks 5 days a week until the end of October, 2018, then back out in early May next year.  The machine is owned and operated by the BIA, consistent with one of the association’s primary mandates – providing clean and safe streets for our businesses to operate and subsequently for our citizens and patrons to our district.

Through surveys completed in the past, the businesses in the uptown have acknowledged that beautification and cleanliness is at the top of their list.  Nancy Tissington, Executive Director of Uptown Saint John Inc. is pleased with the purchase of the machine and looks forward to augmenting the services of the local municipality, together we can make an impact.  We are stepping up the game of cleanliness & we need our citizens to continue to make every effort to pick up after their pets and other litter on the city streets.

Thank you our supplier, Tennant, and to the Saint John Parking Commission and Saint John City Transit for assisting in the logistics around storage of the sweeper.  Please join us in celebrating our civic pride as we help to realize the beauty of our unique urban community and continue to Love Life Uptown.
