Winner Chosen for the Campus Harbour Connection Bike Route Signage

Green Feet, the environment committee of Uptown Saint John, along with Active Transportation Saint John and the City of Saint John, is happy to announce that Steven Macleod is the winner for the Campus Harbour Connection Bike Route ?give us a sign? contest.

?My Wife and I recently purchased bikes from Bikeworks as a way to do something together, get outside and get some exercise. She actually works at the hospital and will probably use the route to get to work if commuting by bike? says winning designer Steven Macleod. ?Inspiration for my design was to take the three elements, bikes, the harbor bridge and the University, and combine them together I wanted to make it simple as possible while getting my message across.? The whole process from start to finish is why I?m involved in graphic design. From the first creative thought or sketch to the finished product.? I'm happy that I could design something for the city and community that people will recognize and use on a daily basis.?

Second place went to Dafna Mildenberger and third to Holly McKay.

?We appreciate the artistic contributions of the citizens who submitted designs. This winning symbol will easily guide cyclists along the Campus Harbour Connection ? the first bike route to connect various communities in the City?? says Timothy D. O'Reilly,? Manager, Pedestrian & Traffic Services.
?This new signage will be used specifically to identify the Campus Harbour Connection to people using active transportation? says Anne McShane, chair of the Green Feet committee. ?We were excited to see the many, many entries that came in!?
The winning design will receive a $250 Gift Card from Bike Works and their graphic featured on the new bike route.? Second and third prizes will be donated from Uptown Saint John and Bike Works.? The winner was chosen by a panel from Uptown Saint John Green Feet committee and the City of Saint John.
