Alexandra Flood is a familiar name to Saint John. An accomplished painter and artist, her skill is evident and her art is breathtaking. Her beautiful light-filled studio is located in a beautiful historic mansion in uptown Saint John; the perfect backdrop for inspiration. Where were you born?

Do you have any formal training?
Fine Arts Studies at: the Ontario College of Art, Toronto and Florence Italy, and the National Academy School of Fine Arts, NYC.

Where do you work?…and for how long?
I have taught acrylic painting courses at the Saint John Arts Centre and at other venues in Southern New Brunswick for the last ten years. I have also held painting workshops and private instruction for teens, kids and adults from my own studio for ten years now. Most recently, I launched “Watchtower Studio”, a facebook group site which lists the workshops I am currently offering from my new studio on Mecklenburg Street in Uptown SJ.

What do you like best about uptown Saint John?
The historical homes and office buildings. Each building is different from the next – you never get bored because of the numerous styles, periods and building materials that change from block to block.

Who is your favourite musician/artist?
Noah Lennox / Panda Bear

What place on earth inspires you?
Too many places to filter it down.

Secret indulgence?
Grade A dark amber maple syrup

Do you have any pets?
Yes – Two chocolate lab brothers, Oliver and Sam, and a handsome big old grey tabby with huge green marble eyes named Ike.

What is your dream job?
Having a trust fund to spend and spend and spend and…….

What do you like to eat for breakfast?

Chocolate Silk

What book are you reading right now?
I generally have the patience of a 3 year old – so I don't get around to reading much, if at all.

What is your favourite thing to wear?
A twead mini dress I bought in London Uk last year from a young designer at the Saturday Portobello Road clothing market.
