New ‘Meter For Change’ Located On Germain Street

Spare Some Change and Help Make a Change

A new initiative focused on helping those in need launches in Uptown Saint John

Uptown Saint John Inc.

November 8, 2017

Saint John, New Brunswick – In partnership with the Saint John Police Force and the Saint John Parking Commission, the Meter for Change initiative provides Uptown residents and visitors with a unique opportunity to donate change in a lasting and meaningful way. The Meter for Change aims to fundraise for local agencies and structured programs, ultimately supporting those in need.

This initiative, known as the “Kindness Meter” in surrounding cities, has proven to be successful in fundraising for agencies and structured programs. “The Meter for Change initiative is just another example of community stakeholders working together” said David Hartley-Brown, Sargent, Saint John Police Force. “These stakeholders work together to assist those who need our support, understanding, and compassion.”

Another unique feature of our Meter for Change – thanks to our partnership with HotSpot Parking, anyone can make a donation to this cause simply by keying in the special number on this meter via their HotSpot Parking App.

The meter, donated by the Saint John Parking Commission, is installed outside of CIBC on the corner of King Street and Germain Street. The organizations receiving funds raised are as follows: Community Food Basket, One Change, Mobile Health Crisis Service as well as all local shelters.
