Big Brothers Big Sisters

Serving an area of Sussex to St. Stephen, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Saint John has the goal of making sure that every kid who needs a mentor, has a mentor. This being said Big Brothers Big Sisters is constantly looking for people to volunteer for one of multiple programs that seek to teach the importance of giving and giving back, of staying in school, and for having respect for family, peers and community.

Every year Big Brothers Big Sisters holds what has come to become their signature fundraiser, Bowl For Kids Sake, and surpassed their goal by raising an amazing $158 000. This event raises funds that go directly to covering costs of things like screening and training volunteers, matching children with volunteers and to support the ongoing supervision of these matches. Through the valued participation of bowlers as well as many sponsors, this event plays an important role in spreading the word about the need for caring mentors to help youth in our community.

Applying to be a mentor is easy and can be done online here.

The 2017 QMJHL Entry Draft is coming to Harbour Station!

Saint John has the great honour of hosting it’s first QMJHL Entry Draft at Harbour Station on Saturday, June 3rd! “The 2017 QMJHL Annual Session and Entry Draft will be a great way for us to showcase future NHL stars and talented hockey players in Saint John,” said Giles Courteau, the league’s commissioner.

The QMJHL Entry Draft is by far the most extravagant CHL Draft, replicating what the NHL does. All 18 teams will have a table on the floor while players from all over Eastern Canada will be in attendance hoping to hear their names called.
