Metaxia is a familiar face uptown. ?She is the Studio Director at Pulse Communication, a digital agency uptown. ?She also is a healthy living advocate and walks the talk. ?Passionate about helping people live a healthier and happier lifestyle through diet and exercise, and recognizing the importance of clean, unprocessed and organic alternatives to junk food, Metaxia supplies the demand of our ever-present sweet tooth with not only nutritious, but very tasty snacks.

As owner of 'The Simple Pantry' (previously known as granola girls), she is kept very busy stocking these tasty bars which can be found at Nela?s Kitchen?in KV and Second Cup Uptown?and KV. You can also order in bulk off the website.

Let's get to know Metaxia!

Where were you born?
I was born here in Saint John and grew up in Rothesay. ?As you could probably guess though with my very unique name, I have a strong Greek family background.?

How long have you been a part of the uptown scene?
I have been in the uptown scene for most of my life with a few family restaurants in the area. ?About 10 years ago, I started a career with Pulse Communications here on Germain St. and still going strong as the Studio Director. ?I?ve always had an entrepreneurial side to me and when I paired that up with my passion for a healthy lifestyle, The Simple Pantry was born (Previously known as Granola Girls). It is a side business where I try to provide the people around me with a healthy, all-natural option for snacks. ?We have 3 products; granola bars, protein bars and energy balls. ?All made with simple, real food and as many organic ingredients we can get our hands on.

You can find The simple pantry at the Second Cup right here on King Street uptown, as well as the KV location. Also, the shelves are always full at Nela?s Kitchen in KV ? and if any of you know Keith and Nela, I don?t have to remind you of how amazing they are and we are proud to consider them our partners in crime since they have been so good to us.

What is your ultimate favorite snack food?
I might be a bit biased to this question but when I do have the chance to have some extra product in my fridge that haven?t already been shipped off to Nela?s Kitchen or Second Cup, I LOVE to enjoy one of our granola bars for a snack with a piece of fruit or a green tea. ?And if I don?t happen to have any around, a banana with almond butter is usually my snack of choice.

Any pets?

If any of you follow The Simple Pantry facebook or even my personal page, it wouldn?t take long to realize that one of the loves of my life is my cocker spaniel, Bentley! ?I could go on for hours about him, so all I will say is that he is the cutest and best thing in the whole wide world!

What is your Uptown Insider Tip?
I would have to say my best uptown insider tip would be one of my favourite spots I have discovered over the years to just relax and enjoy things on my lunch breaks. In the summer time, I find myself retreating to the church steps right across the street from my office on Germain. It is the perfect place to just sit back and enjoy the hustle and bustle of the uptown from afar. And if you?re lucky, it would be on a day that you can hear a musician playing in the distance outside of Brunswick Square.?
