The first annual 'Kids & Karts' go-cart race was held in uptown Saint John on June 20. This very exciting event showcased custom built go-carts racing down King Street with spectators gasping at the speed, techniques, and unique design of karts. A fire-engine red stock-car roared up and down the street marking the beginning of the race and pumping the racers up for the thrill.
This fundraiser has been a dream of the Joshua Group for awhile now, in efforts to raise money for summer/retreat camp for underprivlidged kids in the area. A great time was had by both participants and those watching the nail-biting races. Also enjoyed was a free barbque, compliments of Sobeys and Local 18, entertainment by dj Victor Holmes, treat bags for all, compliments of TD Bank, and medals for all participants, compliments of Key Industries. Josh from The Wave kept us informed during the event, and announced the grand winning cart, sponsored by Royal Hair Design. The day rounded up with an impressive bus-pull up King Street, our city workers showcasing their strength and determination. A fine ending to a terrific event!
We would like to thank all of the dedicated volunteers who helped make this event happen.
