KELLY CUNNINGHAM . UPTOWN SAINT JOHN COTW . MARCH 29 – APRIL 2

You may know Kelly as the lady who welcomes you with a fantastic smile and warm greeting as you step up and into the Saint John Arts Centre. Kelly is an artist in her own right, with many graphic design projects to her credit.

Some fun questions for Kelly:

Where were you born?
At the General Hospital (I still miss it in the SJ skyline)

What was your breakthrough moment/favourite project?
I've done so much engaging design work over so many years it's hard to decide… working on Clyde Wray's posters are always a lot of fun.

Where do you work?…and for how long?
I've been at Saint John Arts Centre since August of 2006.

What do you like best about uptown Saint John?
The architecture, the interesting variety of friendly people, and there's always something going on!

What place on earth inspires you?
I don't have to go far from home: I love hiking in the woods of Rockwood Park, it makes me feel alive and renewed.

Secret indulgence?
Candy… although it might not be such a secret, looking at my tightening waistband!

What book are you reading right now?
'The Lovely Bones' by Alice Sebold

Do you have any pets?
Not anymore, poor old kitty 🙁

What do you like to eat for breakfast?
I often have a bagel with PB & J, but love to indulge in an 1890's Harvest from Cora's

Who is your favourite musician?
I have pretty eclectic tastes in music, but I suppose my all-time favourite is Sting – I grew up on The Police.

What is your favourite drink?
Boring: skim milk. Interesting: vodka mudslide

Spring? Summer? Winter? Fall?
Fall – crisp blue skies and comfy sweaters, not too hot and not too cold.

Can you play a musical instrument?
I used to play the violin and alto saxophone – many years ago, and poorly, but I enjoyed it!

What is your favourite hangout uptown?
Java Moose on Prince William is a great place to sit and have a catch-up with friends.

What is your favourite thing to wear.
Good old jeans. Also my funky red pumps, at least until my feet protest. 🙂
